Autumn Fun
Shlagel
farms has developed a program for group tours to help educate and give a fun farm experience to
children and the adults who accompany them. Our focus is to give a better
understanding of how food gets from our fields to your table. We also emphasize
safety on the farm, sharing our world with animals and taking care of our
natural resources. The learning environment is interactive on a fun wagon ride
through the fields, a stroll through the petting zoo, and a pumpkin picking
experience, during which there are many opportunities for asking questions.
We welcome children of all ages and skill levels and we will happily adjust to varied learning needs. We can also cover specific topic ideas based on teacher recommendations.
Call or e-mail in September to schedule your school group, home school group, day care, or scout troop for weekday tours. Tours can be scheduled Monday through Friday from 8-4. Group minimum is 10.
On October weekends we are open Saturday and Sunday for family harvest fun. You can have a picnic lunch at one of our many picnic tables or enjoy a family wagon ride to the pumpkin patch to pick that perfect family pumpkin! Bring an old pair of clothes or your favorite sports team outfit and an old pillow case and we’ll provide the straw and instructions for a scarecrow. The younger children will enjoy the straw maze and corn box and kids of all ages will love to visit the petting zoo.
Make sure to bring your camera for lots of great photo opportunities. We’ll be happy to help you get that great family photo!
Schedule your group tour for weekdays during October. We will begin accepting reservations on September 1.
Weekends are for families of all sizes. Come out every Saturday and Sunday during October and pick yourself a pumpkin and a bunch of fun. We have family wagon rides that includes some agricultural education on the way to the pumpkin patch. The petting zoo and other activities will be available as well. Come and see our working family farm in operation.
Farmer Russ gives a lesson on farm ponds and
